Ever wonder why some students do so well while others don’t? Why some kids switch off and others try so hard but just can’t seem to “get it”. Ever feel like you need a brain boost? That you wish you could pay better attention to something? Imagine if you could perform a few simple movements that would prepare your brain to learn anything easily and effectively.
In this session, I spoke with Cindy Goldade, who is the operations director for Brain Gym International. Cindy is an international faculty member, licensed Brain Gym Instructor and facilitates Brain Gym 101, Optimal Brain Organization, Visioncircles, Edu-K In Depth, Teacher Practicums as well as graduate level Brain Gym courses at Hamline University.
During our session, we discussed how the simple but powerful movements associated with Brain Gym activate coordination, alignment and sensory integration so students can access self-initiated exploration for whole brain learning. We discussed the interconnection of sensorimotor abilities, language acquisition and how to adapt specific movements that are based in psychology, neuroscience and developmental optometry to help students read, write and remember better.
If you want easy to implement, fun techniques that you can use with your students to help get them to listen, prepare for learning, be able to sit still, participate in groups, calm down, and enhance their academic skills, then you’ll want to listen to the interesting tips Cindy shared.
