Kids today are pretty much hard-wired for technology. They are constantly texting, watching TV, playing video/computer games etc. Diverting their attention from these endeavours for long is a challenge that adults who are involved with kids are well aware of. But is there a way to take advantage of the time they are entranced and not paying attention to help them improve their performance, excel in their endeavours and eliminate certain behaviours? Apparently there is!
I spoke with John Jacobson about this. John is the creator of the Kids In Trance Program and
co-founder of Ten to Teen Acting Academy which is dedicated to building the self-confidence and
self-esteem in teens and pre-teens. We discussed how auto-suggestion during those times of entrancement while kids text, game or watch TV can be utilized to help overcome challenges in learning, health concerns, behavioural and relationship issues, rising above and resisting peer pressure, getting better sleep, avoiding falling victim to habits and harmful substances
and excelling in school or sports.
What excited me most was the fact that this can be done without interrupting their regular routines or trying to get kids to cooperate (a challenge all on its own some days). In fact, the less attention they pay, the better, since there’s no conscious resistance on their part taking place.
If you’re looking for an easy to implement way to help your child excel or address various behaviour and performance issues, without trying to get their cooperation to begin with,
this is a great session to listen to.
